Everybody would agree with me when say "Humanity is addicted to drama.", because it's true. Everything is about either who is being more controversial or has having more backlash. No one is safe with the things they do, people always remember the bad things about us and they make them even worst looking. People will make sure you will be seen at your worst by everyone that it's possible for them. Controversy is not a bad thing, every step of evolution as it's controversy, the things that are new and unexpected are shocking. Those things are only bad in the one's that are uncomfortable outside of their usual.
Goal: If you feel like something is controversial and not good, just ignore. If you want to pay attention, pay it, but don't be negative. Let the humanity take its own flow.
