As a matter of fact, even though you're not conscious about it, when you're born you already have that affection called love for your mother. So it exists, it is real and you couldn't live without it. Think about it, if a baby didn't love her mother how could he/she feel secure with her and make all the others stuffs he/she does with her. When growing up we start to be more conscious about it and we start to show that feeling for other people, not just family, but also friends and eventually the one we call the one true love.
Goal: Share this feeling with others, they will love you back. The more people you can love the more you will feel secure.
